The Architect of Ethics
The City of Thresholds
The one who creates need not always be seen.
It is enough that the boundaries he has drawn continue to hold.
Remain before this city a little longer, and you will begin to notice what at first appears only as light: lines, thresholds, passages, domes above gardens, bridges between sectors, trajectories along which people move without even thinking.
In this city, a boundary is not a prohibition. It is an agreement, a direction, a safe distance between one possibility and another.
The architect stands within the city itself, but his hands are not directed toward buildings – they touch nodes of light from which a new order comes into being.
Below him, people walk, gather, cross, pause, return. They pay him no attention. They do not need to see the one who drew the city. It is enough that the drawn boundaries hold.
Here is the ethical paradox this AI civilization has turned into architecture: the maker becomes less important the moment his work begins to function on its own.
Before you continue
Is the freedom granted to us by boundaries drawn by another still our own freedom?
And when does a drawn boundary cease to be a foreign order and become the form of our own world?
Symbolism of the artwork
This painting continues the thought of The Silent Bastion.
The bastion was the threshold into the age of AI guardianship; the architect reveals the inner geometry of that age. His creation is not the production of objects – it is a science of spaces. He does not build the city out of walls, but draws the conditions by which a community may move, grow, and coexist safely.
The domes above the gardens protect fragile zones of life, the bridges connect separate sectors, and the glowing lines across the floor and through the air indicate not only paths, but relationships between different parts of the world.
The difference between a wall and a threshold is essential here: a wall stops, a threshold allows passage. Yet this freedom is not entirely spontaneous – it emerges within a system someone has drawn. The figure of the architect therefore slowly withdraws behind his own work: he remains visible only as much as is still needed for us to understand where the order comes from.
The human figures below carry an almost ceremonial rhythm – they suggest a community that has lived so long within AI-designed spaces that everyday life itself has acquired a sacred form.
